I Dare You Not to Look!
Tribal Council — By Eric White on January 14, 2010 11:58 PMIt’s been a few weeks since we had a chance to stop and look back at the artwork that has been posted in the Pixel Shrine. To make up for that…I’m going to show you some of the best pieces of art that we have ever had posted to HueDoo.com.
Our first piece was colored and posted by rcoffman back at the beginning of December. Red Sonja is one of my favorite characters and I just can’t say enough about how much I like what going on here. The pallet is great, the renders are completely believable, the textures look awesome. I love this image and I couldn’t wait to see it posted here in the Council. Next up tis one super sexy Power Girl drawn by Oliver Nome and colored by FrankMCuonzo. What can I say about it. The pallet is great. The highlights are placed just about perfectly. The holds are awesome. Seriously…there’s not much else to do here but kick back and enjoy. Congrats on being awesome Frank. What makes this next piece even more amazing than it already is now is the fact that it’s a work in progress! Wow. This Fear Agent piece, drawn by the amazing Tony Moore, is being colored by alphatrope. Looks great! The textures are dirty and perfect. The sky and holds in the background REALLY pull it back away from the action in the foreground (adding some really nice depth). Seeing as how it’s a work in progress and was posted looking for maybe a few comments or suggestions…why don’t you head over to the thread and let alphatrope know what you think. And the last piece of posted art that we’ll look at this week is from the Hi-Fi Color For Comics Challenge #5, the David Nakayama challenge. That challenge has always been one of my absolute favorites and is one the of the first threads I look for each time I enter the Pixel Shrine section of HueDoo.com. This post is by bandobras who we have seen art posted for in the past here in the Tribal Council. I’ve been a huge fan of bandobra’s work in the past and this image continues that trend for me. The Hulks’s atomic green skin is the perfect hue for me. Spiderman and Ironman look great! Even little AntMan looks cool riding there on his flying ant. Brian commented in the thread that “with a few additional effects to add depth and glow to this image it would look VERY nice” and I couldn’t agree more. This one is just about perfect! Great work!! One more thing before I let you out of here this week. Just announced today and posted in the Tribal Talk section on HudDoo.com…
Photoshop for Comics Spring 2010 Enrollment
At Estralla Mountain Community College in Avondale, Arizona
ENROLL NOW: Photoshop for Comics.
Class: CIS120
Section: 55874
Time: Tu-Th 11:30 – 12:55
EMCC: emc.maricopa.edu
This class is based on Hi-Fi Color for Comics – instructor is former Hi-Fi colorist Kanila ‘Big-K’ Tripp. Looks for TWO new color classes coming for Fall 2010. And into class with Kanila and an advanced class with Brian.
That’s just a bit too far of a commute for me…but I implore you…if you’re even close to that area do NOT miss this class. The hands on experience working with not only a working professional colorist…but with none other than Brian Miller!? You’d be crazy to miss it.
Well that’s it for this week!! Thanks for reading and be sure to come back next week! We’re going to take a look at some of the entries for our current Coloring Challenge.
