2010: Outlook
Hi-Fi — By Kristy Miller on January 6, 2010 1:00 PMNow that the new year is here let’s look to the future and see what’s in store for Hi-Fi.
January
We are currently working to wrap up the World’s Finest series. If you haven’t seen this pick up the 4 issues. It’s really cool.
We are also working on a couple top secret DC projects. Too early to talk about but man are they going to be cool–stay tuned for more info on that.
We hope to continue our work on lots of projects including several titles from DC (Magog, Titans, Booster Gold and a lot of others,) Marvel, Titan Publishing, Panini Publishing, Lerner, Scholastic, United Media, Fantasy Prone, IDW, and many, many more.
February
Master Digital Color comes out and will be available for purchase in a store or comic shop near you. The sequel to Hi-Fi Color for Comics is full of more specialized tips and tricks and fun homework assignments written by yours truly.
March
A couple of projects we have been working on for some UK clients will come out in March. One has to do with Transformers the other with wrestlers–very exciting.
For all you tennis fans the BNP Paribas tournament at Indian Wells, CA also takes place in March. I’ll be out of the office that week, FYI!
April
Let’s see, it’s Brian’s birthday & tax day. As of now those are the biggest events in April.
May
One of those top secret DC projects is set (as of now) for release in May. Hopefully, we’ll be able to talk about it before that.
Also in May is the Phoenix Comic-Con (formerly known as Cactus-Con.) http://www.phoenixcomicon.com/ This year they are moving to a big-time facility at the Phoenix convention center. Last year guests included Ethan van Sciver, Ben Templesmith, Wil Wheaton, Terry Moore and lots more. If you are any where near the southwest in May you should check this out. It’s still small enough to be enjoyable but large enough to get to see a variety of things close-up.
June
Huh, the calendar is empty for June–that’s weird–I must be slacking off. I usually have at least SOMETHING booked for us for every month.
July
Everyone knows what July holds, starts with San Diego and ends in Con. Hotel rooms are practically booked already and don’t officially go on-sale until March this year. Even guests and people paying for tables and booths are being forced to stay miles away. Book early people!
August
School starts back up after the summer break here in AZ. Brian will be teaching a PhotoShop class based on Master Digital Color (our new book incase you’ve been living in a hole and haven’t heard us mention it 15 times.)
September
A couple of the kids “choose or lose” books we work on will be available during Sept. These neat books are like the ones from when we were kids if you want to do X go to page 16 if you want to do Y go to page 28. The company we happen to work for does a lot of books for libraries and schools then after a period of time they become available to the general public as well. We work on their Graphic Universe series’ as well.
October
Um it’s my birthday… that’ really all I got for October right now.
November & December
These are two of the busiest months at Hi-Fi, every year we have to be mentally prepared to work pretty much non-stop during this time. Between weird schedules due to holidays and trying to meet everyone’s ship deadlines so you have something to buy for the holidays and something to buy in the new year we work almost round-the-clock.
Amazingly, we already have a couple of things in the hopper for 2011 but they aren’t firmed up yet so no need to go into them.
