Santa, Check Out THIS List!
Screen Gems — By AltoidMan on December 21, 2009 10:45 PMDear Santa,
I know you are a busy man and all, but I couldn’t let a Christmas season pass without dropping you a line of my wish list for the next year of comic book to movie projects. I’ve (almost) been a really good person this year. Well, nobody died from anything I did, so that’s a plus right?
I just have a few simple requests to make sure myself and every other comic book fan has something under our comic tree. I think you will agree this is for the betterment of everybody, not just for me.
First and foremost, there are a few projects being made that I really don’t want to suck. Here is a brief list:
--Iron Man 2: The first one was REALLY good. If they can’t follow it up properly with another good sequel, just tell them to stop. The fans they have drawn in from the first one will leave if the second one is a piece of crap.
–Thor: The screaming Viking was never a hugely successful title, but the fans are extremely loyal. It has stayed alive throughout the years because of that loyalty. I fully believe if this film is not good, theatres will be struck by lightening and burn to the ground.
–Spider-Man 4: We all loved the first two Spidey movies, but the third one had us all down in the dumps. If this one sucks, then Spidey is only 50% good. He deserves better.
–Echo: I want…scratch that…I NEED this film to be superb. Terry Moore deserves wholeheartedly to become a household name. If not himself personally, at least his characters deserve it.
Big Lump Of Coal
On the flip side I also have a few requests for lumps of coal to be inserted in stockings. I really feel these people/projects have done nothing for humanity or comic books.
–Stephen Sommers: After giving us the worst rendition of G.I. Joe ever, I would like him to receive coal, the swine flu, and a voodoo curse in his stocking!
–Hollywood execs for Green Lantern: Whoever decided to cast Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern doesn’t deserve anything nice for Christmas or Hanukkah or any other holiday. We can all see this is a bad choice geared toward luring a female crowd into the theaters while leaving the rest of us clamoring for a real Green Lantern movie!
–The makers of Tron Legacy: If you don’t give them coal in their stocking for trying to reprise a failed sci-fi experiment, then at least give them a better script to follow. Hell, I’m convinced Yukon Cornelius probably has a better feel for this movie then most people trying to make it in Hollywood!
Tis The Season For Giving
One last thing before I go, Mr. Claus. I also have a list of things I would like to see become reality in the next few years. Any help in this matter would be appreciated.
–Avengers: I realize this is already being discussed, but if there is any magic left in your body, please pass it on to the filmmakers of this project. It should totally kick ass!!
–The Flash: Barry Allen should be on the big screen and have some zest to him. This could be a really fun, ferocious picture. Make it happen, Fat Man.
–Super Friends: Since Marvel is going gaga crazy over the build up of an Avengers movie, it is only fitting D.C. jump on the bandwagon and make a Super Friends movie, right? Picture it, Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman all working to stop the Legion of Doom!! I just stained my shorts!
I realize you are a busy man, Santa. I realize there are probably a lot of kids who have done great and wondrous things. But, I strongly encourage you to put off their good deeds for next year and help make comic fans year a lot more pleasant.
– Leave your movie wish list to Santa in the comments.

As a fan of the original Tron I hope they don’t destroy my childhood memories. I can’t even bring myself to watch G.I. Joe: TRoC.
I admired Tron for what it was, but I wouldn’t call it a good movie. It was well marketed, had a great soundtrack, and one fabulous video game. If they can re-live all of those aspects, I’ll be excited!
I vote Super Friends–but before it got cheesy with all the guest spots.
