NYE 2009

Ok, this column is going to be a little different…. ok this column isn’t really going to be a column… I need help people!

Brian & I, along with two friends who are flying in for the occasion, have decided to go all out for New Year’s Eve this year and attempt to party like rock stars.  We have purchased tickets to a couple of swank parties in Scottsdale. We have rented a hotel room so that we don’t have to drive home (or worry about driving home) when ever the party ends.  And, just to be safe, I made them rent the room an extra day so my friend and I can spa to recover!  (The boys are doing some manly motorcycle thing but I plan to need to detox and sit quietly!)

So here is the dilemma… I have NOTHING to wear.  Ok, ok, I can hear people who actually know me grumbling that I have something to wear.  In truth I have managed to purchase four, yes I said 4, dresses and can’t decide on which one.

Here is what I need from you, bust out your creative sides but use them for a higher purpose–finding a dress for me–instead of your normal creative stuff.  See this is loosely (very, very loosely) comic/creative related.

I can hear most of you boys out there sighing and tuning out… BUT do you not color or draw women everyday?  Is it not important to think about they way they look and what they are wearing?  I’m doing this for your own good!  I often joke about the fact that Black Canary, Wonder Woman, or whomever are going to be pissed when they see their butt in that pose! ;-)

Now here are the rules: 1) I’m pretty tough and can take a lot of shit but let’s be polite (sarcastic is ok) and not point out things like my size 4 is really a 6.  (It’s a 4 if I say it is!)  2) I didn’t really try (I can hear you sarcastic ones saying “obviously”) with my hair & makeup so they don’t count.  3) I did give you shoe choices and sometimes jewelry choices because I couldn’t decide so I’m open to suggestions in those areas. 4) Seriously, feel free to comment.  Let the creative come out and tell me what you think–about the dresses remember and not about me! ;-)

If this were strictly 2D I’d take these photos into PS and slim down some areas and get rid of my goofy tan lines, but alas, this is all I got to work with so no suggestions of diet or tanning–ain’t gonna happen!

Oh, and to make it easier for you I have already eliminated one of the choices, a lovely purple Blaque Label dress that wouldn’t fit over my butt–size 6 my ass (literally!) Do you see how skinny her legs are–I don’t have a chance!

Choice number 1: Black & Gold Floret with golden yellow tulle underskirts.  I can’t decide on the shoes or the earrings but I kinda dig the necklace with it. If it’s cold I’ll add black tights.

Choice number 2: Gold brocade Moulinette Souers (or something French).  I’m not sure about tights or not and I don’t have any shoes that actually work, the boots are just ok.

Choice number 3: Pink silk Badgley Mischka.  Super cool drape sleeve on one side. Not sure on the shoes but they are sparkly and fun (no Brian I can’t walk unassisted in these sober much less after a few drinks–what’s your point?) I actually got the shoes for the purple dress that is now out of contention.

Ok, people chime in and tell me what you think.  What is your vote if you had to be seen out in public with me!

thanks & have a safe & happy New Year!

P.S. The camera adds 10 (or 30) pounds, I’m totally skinner in real life! ;-)

    I like all the dresses.
#1. Is a cute dress, looks good on you.. low boots or high shoes.
not real dresses but very cute. nice neckless..
    #2. Is a wow dress…looks good on you…high shoes with open toe…maybe
    gold shoes…like the jewelry…
    #3. I a pretty dress…love the color..but really doesn’t make you stand out…

my pick is #2…the dress says look at me…and you look good in it…

My vote is for either 1 or 3. Dress #1 looks great and you always look good in those types of skirts (are they called A-line? *shrug*), makes your waist look tiny. I love the colour of #3; you’d be hard to miss in that one and the cut is gorgeous. It’s my favorite of the lot. Dress number 2 is nice but in dim lighting I think it would look a bit plain; not a night time dress imo.

    I vote for 3!

i like dress number 1 with the boots… but then again what do i know i’m a guy

no contest in my mind: #1 is the winner. with boots. also I prefer the long, dangly earring instead of the hoop earring, in this case.

  5. Jessica Brawley says:

Dress number one with the boots! Fabulous, I am jealous!!!

  6. Kelli says:

I’m diggin number 1 with the lower shoes no tights. You look great in #3 but only if you are going for proper behavior for the night and something tells me that that ain’t happenin… I didn’t much care for #2 because it blends too much with your coloring. See, I can be nice.

The votes are in & here are the results: #1 13, #2 1, #3 10. Many people picked both 1 & 3 depending on what we were doing, where we were going and what Brian was wearing. I like them both too. We’ll have to see what Brian comes up with and the other couple we are going with. I’ll post a picture on FB after the big event.

    Thanks for all your help!

I like the first choice best–you look more slim and younger! Have a great time!
