The Weekly Wrap up, HueDoo Style!

Another crazy week on HueDoo.com and I’m thrilled to share it with you.  We had some amazing colors posted as well as some comic reviews and a lot more!  So let’s not mess around.  Lets see some art!!!

As you know (because you have the book and have worked through all the work within…but HiFi Color For Comics, Chapter 2 homework assignment is an unbelievable piece; The cover from The Terrifying Tales of Tommi Trek #2 by John Byrne. Wow! So awesome.  And this week thanks to the Chapter Projects and Homework section we saw a ton of posting of this cover including this submission by afrojoe5000.  Not only does AJ5K have a great screen name on the forums…this is a great piece.  The rendering is good but what caught my eye was the cloudy sky.  Such a simple treatment to the sky that probably took just a second to do but it turned out nice.

There was also a several other really nice versions posted so go check them out.

A few months back HiFi Coloring Challenge #12 was posted. It was an Evil Lyn image by Stephen Reid which he drew for me (knowing cool artists has its advantages!) and I posted as the challenge. This week we had some images posted in that thread including probably my favorite one so far in that thread.

This one by Bandobras is exceptional!  The rendering on the highlights is crisp and believable. The glow from her staff isn’t too overbearing, nor too subtle. The overall color pallet is right in the sweet spot between being vivid but not over saturated.  And best of all…she’s rock’n those Robert Palmer-esque hot red lips!  Great work!!

The postings for the very successful Coloring Challenge #16 (Tommy Patterson’s Hulk) continue to roll in and this week we got two really nice submissions! This first one is by my good friend Jennie (JK! on the forums).  She went with a night time rendering of the Hulk.  I love the render on the big green monster.  Her highlights from the head lights are great!  Speaking of that…the lights coming from the headlights look great!  Great job Jennie.  PS: Jennie is a busy woman.  She’s got some coloring projects on her screen right now.  When those hit the shelves you can be certain that I’ll be BEGGING to post some of that art here.

The next Hulk image is a corrected image by Aconic. You may remember my article a few weeks back where I spot lighted his Hulk.  After a few critiques and comments by other Tribe members…Aconic has gone in and made some adjustments.  What can I say…it looked great before and now it looks better.  Nice work!

And finally this week we have an image colored by on of HueDoo’s best and most regular posters…Kevin Conley.  He’s been working on some Swamp Thing covers by Bernie Wrightson.  This one’s awesome!  The highlights on the muck encrusted, shambling mockery of life is surprisingly detailed which contrasts with the simply detailed background…brilliant.  I love it.  Really great work.

ATTENTION INTERNET: Someone get Kevin Conley work on a regular monthly comic book.  His work is consistently great and I’m a big fan.  Thank you.

We have a great community on HueDoo…not just because of the art that we create.  We also actually read comic books!!  In the Tribal Talk section on the forums we had several reviews posted in the Comic Reviews Thread.  Teemtc looked at Birds of Prey.  Bandobras went gave his reaction to Stephen King’s Dark Tower (which is awesome by the way).  MOE reviewed Angel. And Sasquach88 shared his reaction to Johns. I encourage you to not only go check out their reviews…but also to comment on them and even post your own reviews.  We want to know what you think about the books you’re reading. Come on…you’re a fanboy/girl.  I know you have an opinion!!  ;)
